7 Reasons Generous People Are More Likely To Be Successful

As i said in my last post the word Generous is showing a readiness to give more of something, especially money, than is strictly necessary or expected.
Many of us have been blessed by a person who has help us in a time of need, given us advice when we were confused of was just kind when kindness was needed.  Where being generous is great for those who are around such people, the habit of generosity does a great deal for the person who practices it as well.

Truly generous people are often successful in life.  Not just at work or in the community, but in their personal lives as well.  The wonderful thing about generosity is that anyone can become a generous person no matter what station you are in life, how much you have or what you hope to have.  Here are seven reasons why success often fills the lives of generous people.

1. Generous People are Happy People
You will be hard pressed to find a generous person who is grumpy and unhappy.  People who are willing to share of their time, possessions, and talents are often some of the happiest people there are.  They have a great sense of contributing to the world they live in.  All of us seek to have meaning in life and to feel that we matter to the world.  For generous people, happiness comes from giving more than from taking.

2. Generous People are More Relaxed
There is no greater stress than feeling that you are in need or that you have to get more in life.  Greed as well as a sense of poverty drive people to constantly worry about what they do not have and at times will cause then to make bad choices to try and remedy the problem.  Generosity is a state of mind.  It is not based on how much money or possessions you have.  Generous people can in fact have very little, however, what they do have they are willing to share and are not in bondage to their possessions.  There is a great calm and peace that comes when we always sense that we can give of whatever we have.

3. Generous People are willing to Work Hard
A common trait of generous people is that they are willing and happy to work hard for what they have.  Success comes through hard work.  There is not short cuts or easy paths to take.  Generous people realize this and will do what it takes to achieve their goals and dreams in life.  Since they tend to be others-focused rather than self-focused they see their own success as a benefit for all, not just for them.

4. Generous People are Kind People
Just as you will not find a generous person who is unhappy, you will not find one who is not kind.  Generosity is all about kindness.  It is giving of yourself to others to help them in a time of need or to advance them on their journey to success.  When you are kind to others you will find that others will be kind to you.  A key to achieving success is knowing that what you give you will receive back.  Zig Ziglar had it right when he said, “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help enough other people get what they want.”

5. Generous People are Free People
The strongest prisons in the universe are those built on greed, want and selfishness.  They are chains that hold you down from achieving real success in life and limit all you hope to do.  The only thing that breaks these chains is generosity.  Generous people are free to do what they wish, and have what they want because their happiness and success is not dependent on what they keep, but more on what they give away.  Have you ever noticed that generous people seem to have more than they need of all of life’s treasures?  That is because you will always receive in the same proportion as what you give.

6. Generous People Have Better Relationships
It is just a fact, happy, kind and generous people have more friends, better friends and stronger personal relationships.  It is not because others know they can get something from these people, in fact, what they have or do not have has nothing to do with it.  Generous people are faithful and loyal and these qualities strengthen all the relationships they have.

7. Generous People are Confident People
When you are not the center of your universe, you will find that you not only feel better about others, you feel better about yourself.  Generous people do not get their self-worth from what they give, but by their freedom to give it.  The insecurity that comes with greed, want and selfishness is not there to hinder them.  They know they can be and do whatever their heart desires.

8 Simple And Easy Ways To Become More Generous

The Word Generous is showing a readiness to give more of something, especially money, than is strictly necessary or expected.
When you give, you can greatly help others, and you feel better too. One awesome example of giving is by the world’s wealthiest people who participate in The Giving Pledge, a pledge to give most of their wealth to philantrophy. However, even if you’re not wealthy, you can still make a lasting effect by being giving.

If you’d like to increase your giving, here are some simple and easy ways to become more generous.

1. Be creative
No money to give? No problem. You can get creative and be giving of your time. There are likely dozens, if not hundreds, of organizations within your community that would love help from volunteers. From volunteering to pick up litter, to rocking babies in the hospital, the possibilities are endless. You can also be giving of your support. By offering a listening ear or words of encouragement, you can help brighten someone’s day.

2. Donate blood
Another creative way to be giving is to donate blood. Your blood donation can save someone’s life. According to United Blood Services, medical advances, modern surgical techniques (such as open heart surgery and cancer treatments), and the aging baby boomer generation have increased the need for blood. Your blood donation can be used for specific treatments for various illnesses or injuries. If you’re not a qualified donor, you can volunteer to help at a blood drive or raise awareness of the need for blood.

3. Donate items
If you have clothes, toys, or household items you don’t use often, consider donating them. There are likely families nearby – or far away – who would be very grateful to make excellent use of your gently used possessions. Decluttering your environment can also lead to long-term positive changes in your life. Plus, your donations to certain places are tax deductible.

4. Give your talents
You have the ability to make an impact on the world that nobody else can. When you cultivate your strengths and passions, and become more of who you naturally are, you can give the world the best of yourself, and maximize your effect. Not sure what you’re passionate about? This workbook is a great start. Take time to discover your passion and give yourself opportunities to share your gifts with the world.

5. Start small
If you’re considering a financial gift to a charity, you can start small. Tiny amounts add up over time, and you’ll never notice a strain on your finances if you start small. You’d be amazed how far a small donation can go.

6. Host a party for a purpose
One creative way to give is to host a party and ask your guests to bring something specific that you’ll all donate. For example, you can ask everyone to bring a few canned goods for the food pantry or a box of diapers for a diaper drive. Or, you can all bring a Christmas gift and put the gifts together for a famly in need in your community.

7. Involve the entire family
Kids love to be involved, and it’s great to teach them to have giving hearts. You can help your kids set up a lemonade stand to raise money to benefit a classmate who is ill or sort food at the local food pantry together. Looking for online giving ideas for your family? 8. Give when life ends
You can continue to give even when your life ends. Consider being an organ donor, and make sure your family knows your wishes. Or, give thought to donating your body for medical education and research. The study of deeded bodies is a vital part of learning human anatomy. When you donate your body, you greatly help teach the next generation of medical and dental students, nurses, physical and occupational therapy students, and other health care professionals.

When you live to give, you’re practicing one of the important 7 Mindsets of happiness and success. Incorporating the live to give mindset in your life can significantly change your life, and the lives of others around you.

Now I’d love to hear your ideas of how to be more generous!

You Think These 10 Things Can Improve Your Life? But They Actually Cannot

We all want to improve our lives in several ways and dedicate ourselves to certain activities and pursuits that may just lead to that. Though not everything we chase after is for our own good. It is always in our best interests to read between the lines and aim for the facts before making any compromise. Here are 10 things we think can improve our life but which actually cannot.

1. Technology distracts from your real environment
While technology can be beneficial to our work and personal life, it is so easy to become an enthusiast that it could be a distraction to us being happy. Sometimes we do need the space and connections with our immediate environment. Such help us to be more alive and inspired. You should not allow technology to come in between such moments.

2. Playing the safe zone will keep you stuck
Being cautious and pragmatic can become a constant theme in your life because we are worried about being hurt and victimized. Interestingly, living is about learning as you go. If you keep on playing the safe zone and not taking the shots which you have, you will continue being stuck. Free yourself and take some necessary risks sometimes.

3. Being busy gets in the way of quality time with family and friends
Yes, being busy may be a mark which you reach to try and show everyone that you are serious and hard working. But being busy can be detrimental as there are other elements besides work that make you happy. So stop being busy and spend some time with your friends and family.

4. Spending too much time on social media leads to addiction
It is great to catch up with old friends and colleagues and sometimes participate in the discussions and gossips. But you should know that this can affect your self-esteem and make you addicted if not properly managed. Rather than spending time on social media, spend such time building personal relationships.

5. Saying Yes to everything that comes your way makes you loose focus
If you want to improve yourself you have to start learning how to say No. It is great to be a part of a lot of activities and relationships. But saying No gives you the time and energy to focus on what it important to you and what truly matters.

6. Multitasking makes you work less efficiently
Yes, you want to get so much done at once. The problem with multitasking is that it affects your efficiency and output. Multitasking does not help your focus and has a way of stopping you from prioritizing and getting the important things done.

7. Getting less sleep is unhealthy
I have a friend who told me getting less sleep is what he needs to be successful. No one doubts that less sleep gives you more time. But the human mind was designed to recharge and take breaks. Your body needs the needed dose of sleep to function optimally. While you may kick at this idea you should understand what role less sleep plays with your health problems.

8. Watching TV plays your emotions
You want to watch TV to be entertained and catch up on what is happening globally. However many of these programs or channels are aimed at playing on your emotions. The way around it is to find time to take a break from the TV and find things that will connect your soul rather than your emotions.

9. Trying to be perfect makes you miss the fun
We can’t be perfect. Many people get too serious and work on so much detail they miss the fun of laughing over their mistakes. Don’t let your desires stand in the way of doing what has to be done.

10. Trying to fake being someone you’re not will burn you out
Yes, the fake it until you make it attempt can be hovering you and you want to show the world what they want to see. But such only leaves you empty and burnt out. You have to look inwards and try to be original and realistic as much as possible to face the world.
